See the story of&nbsp; Pte Ernest Podmore by clicking on the right.<\/span><\/span>Questions on anything always welcome at <a href=\"mailto:G4@cobwfa.ca\">G4@cobwfa.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><\/figure>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"center\">\n<blockquote>\n<p>The website looks at many actions of the 54th Battalion CEF in WW1 and some of its members.<\/p>\n<p>A new map has been posted on <a href=\"https:\/\/54thbattalioncef.ca\/?page_id=156\">page 1917<\/a> concerning a deadly battle between German Forces by the 54th and 75th Battalion on 1 March 1917. <a href=\"https:\/\/54thbattalioncef.ca\/?page_id=32\">You can see the lists of all recorded in the 1919 unit history here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"center\">\n<blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/54thbattalioncef.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/AW-JACK-2-pg-65-Version-4-467x640-219x300.jpg\">The Officer to the left is <a href=\"https:\/\/central.bac-lac.gc.ca\/.item\/?op=pdf&amp;app=CEF&amp;id=B4732-S017\">Captain Alec Jack<\/a> of the 54th Battalion. He went across and back to friendly lines on Vimy Ridge Day April 9, 1917. We have his entire service file linked to the highlight at the top of this paragraph and it shows the progress of enrolling as a soldier and going back to Canada as a Captain. These include a thumbnail sketch on his <a href=\"http:\/\/central.bac-lac.gc.ca\/.item\/?op=pdf&amp;app=CEF&amp;id=B4732-S017\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> service record<\/span><\/a>. He won the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veterans.gc.ca\/eng\/remembrance\/medals-decorations\/details\/45\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\">Military Cross<\/span><\/a>. He was recruited in Hedley BC by <a href=\"http:\/\/livingsignificantly.ca\/2014\/11\/10\/story-hedley-machine-gun-boys\/\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> Major Travers Lucas<\/span><\/a> who is also featured on the 54th Battalion Website <a href=\"http:\/\/54thbattalioncef.ca\/?page_id=512\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> here<\/span><\/a>. Alec Jack is mentioned in Tim Cook&#8217;s book &#8220;No Place to Run&#8221; on the results of a <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.ca\/books?id=RCMXjVpj9xYC&amp;pg=PA101&amp;lpg=PA101&amp;dq=alec+jack+54th+battalion&amp;source=bl&amp;ots=oefm6dYqE1&amp;sig=4j23vwxWJkWU6pc8_5iDKIRFTM8&amp;hl=en&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwj2j9HAxP_LAhXin4MKHc1YBcYQ6AEIITAB#v=onepage&amp;q=alec%20jack%2054th%20battalion&amp;f=false\"><span style=\"color: #0066cc;\"> failed attack on the Germans on March 1, 1917<\/span><\/a>.
